I have loved having this swing for my toddlers. We bought it for my son's first birthday, and he is now two-and-a-half. His younger brother started swinging in it when he was about 6 months old (but very slow and low). When my son got this at a year old, he weighed 20 pounds and was about 30 inches tall. He did fine in it. I love the T-bar because I think it helps the kids feel more safe in it, as well as keeps them from sliding out of the swing. We've kept the swing outside and the only "weathering" it has is bird doo-doo in the seat. We live in a very hot and dry climate, so I don't know how the ropes would do in a very wet climate. My kids have had a lot of fun in this swing, and I highly recommend it!

I bought this crib soother because, for the price, it has many more features than a typical crib soother. The soft colored lights are very soothing, as is the gentle melody. A unique feature is the recording option parents can use to record a personal message or a favorite lullaby. I also love that the soother can be set to be sound activated. I use this feature all the time when trying to put my son down to sleep. I don't use this soother in his crib exclusively, but also use the music and lights when rocking him, holding him, etc. when trying to put him to sleep. After a overnight feeding it works well to get him back to sleep. He is too young to manipulate the spinning smiley, or the spiral, but I can see him enjoying those features as he grows a bit older. Overall, from my experience I would recommend this soother. It works better than other crib soothers from my experience.

I received the diaper duck from a friend who was a mother of three and she told me that she would travel no where w/o this in her bag. I was skeptical but after having used it for the last nine months I have to agree. I have put some pungent diapers in these bags and the odor is gone completely. If there is not a trash can around I dump the bag into my diaper bag and forget it is even there. I daily clean out my diaper bag and refill it since we are always on the go and so it gets thrown away but that is just how good the bags are at dispelling the odor. I must say that if I had known about this prior to using my diaper genie then I would have returned it and only used the diaper duck by Munchkin. I have included the link to the refills as I had difficulty locating them on Amazon. When I lived in the States (I am military and AAFES does not sell this item) I purchased it at Target but now I have to order from Amazon as Target.com does not have them available for purchase. Tiny Love Nature's Serenade Mobile Review

I really love this mobile. I waited until I found the right mobile before I bought one. I am so happy that I did. This isn't like the traditional "boring" mobiles that just turn and play music. I love Nature's Serenade because it's attention grabbing, and it has more than just the strung creatures going in circles. There is a plastic turtle and lady bug on a squiggly track inside that jiggle their way down as the mobile turns. There are stars and other shapes on the outside ring of the mobile that also fall. The first night we had it in my daughter's crib she stayed up (quietly) in her crib for an extra hour just watching the mobile.

The music has two volume settings, and you can turn off the blue light at the top of the mobile, but not the green frog at the bottom of the mobile. This comes with a remote! It's so awesome because sometimes you want to covertly turn it on/off without your child seeing you and thinking that you're going to pick them up causing them to fuss. The only cons about the remote is that it only turns the mobile on and off, it doesn't change the tune, the volume, or any other settings. The music lasts a really long time so you don't have to turn it back on every few minutes. I've gotten so used to the music that I sleep through it now even on high volume. It's peaceful enough.

The umbrella part of the mobile comes off and you can keep the base with the frog and music attached to the crib. This is really great as I found my daughter with her little hands wrapped around the pink flamingo's legs (which I just love that there's a pink flamingo and a hippo in the first place).

Yes, this mobile was expensive, but I've had it for several months and we've never changed the batteries or had any issues with, we use it every single night, and for naps as well. I plan on using this for any other children I have in the future.

My son received this as a hand-me-down. He's 14 months now, but this has been one of his favorite toys since he was 5 months old. 'Baby Crack' is what we called it.

There are two downsides, one of which can be remedied (but should be selectable). There is a 'voice-key' (small microphone) that activates the toy - it's supposed to activate the toy when a kid rattles the 'rattle microphone'. In practice this means that any loud sound (such as the smashing of another toy) will activate the stage. My son can be done with toy, make a loud sound a few minutes later, and the toy reactivates. Very annoying, especially when you and the kid are engrossed in something else or when the kid has finally quieted down for book-time. A selectable threshold for activation (low, high, off) would solve that problem. I finally got tired of it, opened the case, and cut the wires leading to the microphone. That solves the problem.

The second annoying thing is that if the toy hasn't been touched in a while, it will play a tune before shutting down. That causes my kid to run across the room and smash one of the buttons so that it will start playing tunes again. The last thing I need is a toy that interrupts my son when he is doing something else to remind him that it needs to be played with!

Otherwise, the toy is great fun. It not only keeps (kept) him occupied, but I'm sure it increased his coordination. It's funny, because my wife and I occasionally comment 'Do you remember when he couldn't pull down the lever for the horn?'. I still remember the first time he press one of the piano keys when he was only 4 months old 'Happy is when your mouth is smiling..." and he let out a big grin!

An Exciting Experience for Your Little Performer
The Little Superstar Sing-Along Stage features a large picture mirror, framed by exciting blinking lights at the top and an "audience" of smiling, cartoon babies at the bottom. Musical instruments with happy faces sit below: a guitar, a keyboard, a drum, and a trumpet. Each instrument has moving parts that activate sounds. The toy comes with a "magic" microphone, which is really a rattle. Shake it, and the sound of the rattle will activate songs and other fun sounds. The lights blink as the music plays, making a spectacular show for your little one to enjoy.

Sing Songs or "Compose" You Own
The toy includes two modes, which are easily selected by sliding a button at the top of the toy. The "sing-along" mode plays five different fun songs, which are activated by shaking the magic microphone or pressing any of the buttons on the musical instruments. Younger babies will enjoy listening to the music and watching the lights blink. They'll also love hearing you sing along with the songs. (We were happy to find that the toy comes with lyric cards.) As your child gets older, she can learn to sing along with you, too.

Select the "build-a-song" mode for your child to experiment with sounds herself. When she shakes the "magic microphone," a voice singing a "scat" will start. When your child plays with any of the musical instruments, she will hear that instrument play. It will continue to play a "solo" until she presses the buttons on any of the other instruments. Their sounds will then be added to the instrumental piece. For example, press the drum, and a back beat will be added. In all, the toy has three different, jazzy "add-on" instrumental pieces -- even our adult toy testers enjoyed these catchy, authentic-sounding tunes. The toy also says several fun phrases, as well as the sound of cheering and applause, encouraging children to dance or sing along.

Musical Toy Grows with Your Child
While we love all of the musical features of this toy, we especially like that the Sing-Along Stage is designed to grow with your child, which means that your child will get a lot of use out of it while making new discoveries as they get older. The toy stands at the perfect height for six-month-old babies to play with while sitting. They will enjoy looking at themselves in the large picture window, watching the blinking lights, and experimenting with the cause and effect features of the buttons. Our two-year-old toy tester also enjoyed this toy -- she loved dancing and singing along with the songs.

The toy requires just a little bit of adult assembly, which is where we encountered our only problem: the legs need to be screwed on to the toy to allow it to stand, but the holes for the included screws were not sized properly. This made it difficult for us to manually tighten the screws satisfactorily. However, the toy was still able to stand sturdily for safe play

I really like this toy. It's just challenging enough for my two-and-a-half year old. She can thread the circles on by herself, and she likes the cute sheep that it makes. You can fit them on in any order. For more of an educational slant, sometimes we try to actually do the circles in the order they're supposed to go in, in rainbow order (there are little color coded dots on each circle) if we are doing it together, but she can still play with it by herself.

My only complaint is that the end piece is really hard for a toddler to get on, and so she can't complete the sheep completely by herself. I would imagine that this part would be too hard even for a three-year-old.

My husband actually found this and a couple other toys left in an apartment after the old residents moved out. I cleaned them well and this toy still looks brand new.

My 8 month old girl has a blast flipping the little book back and forth. I actually wish she wouldn't do that, because I kinda enjoy the songs, and flipping the page changes the song. When the toy starts playing, my husband and I give each other a look and sing along. We enjoy the music a lot! However, I usually do keep the music on the lowest setting. My husband also enjoys starting either "Twinkle twinkle little star" Or "Bingo" and then playing the rest of the song on the piano keys for her (mind you, he cannot play a real piano lol!). So far, we have not had any issues with the pig as mentioned in some reviews, but we will watch for that. If it becomes a problem, we will use something to make the pig stationary and seal the gap. She loves to play with Bingo the dog and the ducks.

In all, I think this is a great toy, and I will update if I have to make any alterations to the pig.

And when she heard the music she would dance and dance and dance... It has not become annoying like most musical toys because she is so fun to watch playing with it. Then before I knew it she was walking across the livingroom with this toy. She just motored right around. I laugh because they walk like little grandma's with walkers at first. (No offense to little grandma's. I have one that is 93 and she is the greatest.) I would totally recommend this toy to someone. Just remember never let them play near stairs with it. Ty Beanie baby Shaqbear Review

When we visted my sick friend in the hospital, we went to the gift shop to buy something for her. I was going to get her a beenie baby that was holding a soccer ball. But something caught my eye next to it. ShaqBear. Oh, my, SOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute! I love shaq and miami heat, so I really wanted it badly. I didn't get it that time, but I would get it soon. So, I got it at a Hallmark. I slept with it, kinda hung out with it, y'know just when you get a new plush. But, remember, shaqbear does get a little boring after a while. As for durilty, it stays long. Here's ShaqBear "report card":

PlanToys Bread Playset Review

Okay, so maybe this one earns more like 4.5 stars rather than 5. But for the money (we bought it at 30% off) it's a nice little bread set and I'm glad we bought it.

I like the sliced breads a lot, the rolls are pretty cool too. I'm somewhat less fond of the french loaves. They're a wee bit too small, like mini-loaves but not really, and they're sort of flat-ish. The pretzels, while certainly being identifiable aren't the most pretzelly-looking pretzels I've ever seen.

Of course, the photos gave these things away to some extent before I ordered them, so it was no great surprise. My love for Plan Toys' toys is primarily one of practicality; I love everything I've read about the company from their ecological to their social practices. I love that all the toys they've had tested by the Ecology Center have turned up as being as safe as they are advertised as being. Some of their toys are really aesthetically awesome like the toaster, and some are just 'pretty good' and that's the category these fall into.

There are a couple of things that I really love about this particular set.

1. There are no choking pieces from my observations. I mean, if you really work at it, you can cram a french loaf or pretzel into a toilet paper tube, but from a practical stance we have smaller toys that are aimed at the 18+ age range, but these just look too big to pose a risk. Here are the measurements for each individual piece, just because it's nice to know before buying:

Pretzels: 3" x 1.6" (because of its curvy shape, width is closer to 1.9") x .5"

Rolls: 2.25" x 2.1" x 1"

French Loaves: 4.1" x 1.75" x .6"

French Slices: 1.9" x 2.7" x .4"

Regular Slices: 2.75" x 2.9" x .4"

2. This set, with its extra slices is a great companion to the Plan Toy Toaster, and bread is a fun thing to have a good assortment of in a play kitchen set-up.

If I had it to do over, I'd still buy this set. The safety, the large pieces, and the fun of having this kind of variety outweighs my minor aesthetic gripe. I think the kids will really enjoy them, and they're super-durable. They'll last forever.

My daughter already had a plastic shopping cart with a lift out basket and seat for her baby dolls. It was really cute but the wheels just never turned the right ways and she was always having trouble getting over varried turain. I finally had enough and broke down and bought this one. Singing nothing but songs of praise right now!

My daughter LOVES this shopping cart. It has a baby seat for her dolls but no lift out basket. She doesn't seem to miss that at all since now this cart goes wherever she wants it to go. It pushes easily over hardwood or carpet. The leg supports to stop it from tipping are not too long so they never get hung up on the carpet. If my daughter pushes down too hard on the cart the spring action in it stops the cart from toppleing over! So far she hasn't even asked about the other cart or touched it since this one came in the house. We love it! You won't be disappointed.

I AM UTTERLY DISGUSTED! I am an AVID DOLL COLLECTOR and I buy as many dolls as I possibly can.
That is how I know that all of you complaining about the difficulty in finding (and the OUTRAGEOUS prices of!) the African American & Hispanic version of these dolls are absolutely SPOT ON!!!!!
I have been looking for/trying to buy the ethnic version of this and several other dolls and am soooooooooo frustrated at the lack of availabilty & the INSANE PRICE GOUGHING INVOLVED!
If you DO manage to FIND THE DOLL THE PRICE IS SO INSANELY HIGH THAT YOU JUST CAN'T AFFORD IT! And I am a grown-up (white) doll "collector" who doesn't neccesarily "need" these dolls. I can only IMAGINE THE FRUSTRATION LEVEL OF THE BLACK/HISPANIC PARENTS & GRANDPARENTS OUT THERE TRYING TO GET THESE DOLLS FOR THEIR CHILDREN/GRANDCHILDREN. I WOULD BE LIVID!!!!!!!!
SOMEONE REALLY NEEDS TO CALL THESE DOLL COMPANIES AND THE STORES THAT CARRY THESE DOLLS AND JUST REALLY GIVE THEM HELL!!!!!! I am thinking of doing just that this week! I mean really don't we have just as many African Americans in this country now as we do "white folks"? As a white person I am ASHAMED OF THIS. We can and should be doing so much better than this. When I find a doll I like I want it in every possible color and gender. But what do you ever get but a female white doll dressed in pink? We deserve SO MUCH MORE! I want The Afican American version, the hispanic version & then I want all 3 versions (white, AA & Hispanic in a BOY DOLL!) And the fact that it is so difficult to find and/or get these things is a sign to me that WE NEED CHANGE!!!!!! We got a change on our government. How about a change (FOR THE BETTER!) in the products that are available to our children? We NEED to hold these toy companies and stores ACCOUNTABLE FOR THESE UNFAIR DISCREPANCIES! I have said so many times that "If I were in charge thinsg would be different!". Their would be much more VARIETY, more AVAILABILTY, and the prices would be REASONABLE AND FAIR!!!! DON'T STOP VOICING YOUR OPINION ON THIS MATTER. THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE NEED TO HEAR FROM US IF WE ARE EVER TO GET ANY CHANGE. Doll Really Talks and Eats!
This version of Baby Alive is a toddler, just the right age for potty training. She has cartoonish, oversized eyes and a head of curly hair, and comes dressed in a bib and a removable dress. Press the button on her bracelet to turn her on; she'll "wake up" and say "I Love You Mommy." When she talks, her eyes blink and her mouth moves in sync with her words. When she says "I'm hungry," that's the cue to feed her.

The doll comes with a bowl and two baby food mixes. Mix one baby food packet with water and feed it to her with the included spoon. She'll "chew," ask for more, and say the food is yummy. She needs water, too: she can drink real water from the included baby bottle.

Potty Training Time
After she's done eating, the doll will say she has to go potty. Sit her on the included toilet, and she will really go. But watch out: if you wait too long, the doll will say, "Uh, oh, I had an accident," and she'll go in her diaper -- or all over you, if you're not careful! Interactive Role-Playing Fun

We particularly like that her interactive features allow for role-playing fun, which is a vital part of a young child's development.

However, because of the potential for mess, this is not a toy for independent play, especially for younger children, and especially if you'd like your house to stay tidy. I purchased this set primarily for the utensils. I find the quality of the pots and pans to be excellent. The lid of the large pot actually locks on so it could even be a pretend pressure cooker. I have also purchased 3 sets of Small World food. They seem to produce a quality product. I have been pleased with everything.

These balls are great. They have a couple at daycare, and I wanted to get some for home. This four pack includes a variety. Of the two bigger balls, one is translucent with the spiky points, and the other is opaque with rounder nubs. The opaque ball is heavier due to the thicker material. The small balls are very similar - one translucent with spikes and one opaque with nubs. I like the translucent ones better, but it's nice to have a variety I guess. You can get a good view of the different types in the customer picture posted up at the top. My big spiky ball is blue, the big nubby one is red, the small spiky ball is green, and the small nubby one is yellow.

My 8 month old loves them, and so do I!

I bought two of these two dolls for my daughters (the price wasn't this high though) and my daughters love them. They have the cutest expressions, the mouth moves when she cries or talks. When hungery, she says, "mom, I'm hungry" or "let's play" and then says boo and giggles, and she sings. My girls get a hoot out of changing them after they pee. We stopped feeding them because the food, like the water, goes right trhough them and their diapers must be changed.

All in all, my girls love them, love changing them and when they're tired, they just switch them off. The negative thing about them is their hair fall off and the lip color disappears, and of course the expensive diapers. My question is, why are the AA dolls so expensive compared to the Caucasian and Hispanic? I don't recall them being this expensive and we bought ours in 2008. I meant to buy two and give them out as presents, but not at that price.

I was able to suction it to the serving tray as well as the plastic section of the seat in front of me (no I was not so lucky to get the bulk head) I did not give this to my child until he got bored on the plane so it was not only new, but colorful with moving parts. My child has 1 year, and she totally loved this toy, she has also the ones of the sound, and this made a great addition to her collection, she was very happy with them, but at first she cried a little cause she want to take out the little duck out of the cube, i'm very happy to see all the punishment that the cube has supported and she couldn't take it out, now she understood it cannot be taken out, but she hitted the cube to the ground, she let it fall like one thousand times but the cube is like new, as it never happened to it, for that i'm grateful.

I recommend this toy to any child that doesn't go to school yet, it's an incredible toy and i'll forward to getting more on the collection of these cubes.

Okay, so I just saw the Squeakquel, being a big fan of the Chipmunks going back to watching them as a small child in the '80's. As expected, it was a great time. Dave literally phoned it in this time, but "Uncle" Ian was back to exploit the Chipettes, and it was completely hilarious! Anyway, I had seen these Ty beanies of Alvin, Simon, Theodore, and Britney on Amazon a short time before and already knew I wanted them. I have a nice toy trio already that came with the DVD release of the first film in a Best Buy gift set, but I was always unsatisfied with their small size. These Ty beanies are much closer to the actual size of the Chipmunks in the live-action/CGI films. Still a bit short, but much closer (possibly more accurate to actual chipmunk size? I really don't know though). So, I was thrilled when my package from Amazon arrived and much larger (but not too large) chipmunks than the ones I already have filled the box. These new Ty chipmunks look good, and I am giving them the full five stars because I do love them, but they could still have been better. They're big enough to satisfy me without being too big, like a plush probably would be, and they have nice detail. However, they could have better detail. Most specifically, they could have the darker areas of their fur that form stripes, some of which (in the film) imply eyebrows. This is something I'll miss in the tiny plush toys I have that I will probably get rid of after making this upgrade. Their tails in the film versions are longer than these Ty incarnations too, but that's no biggie. I have yet to acquire Theodore, as I could only buy three when I ordered these with a gift card, and Brittany was a must (I'll get Theo ASAP, for sure), so I can't comment on him, but I can say that I think of the three I own, Simon has the best likeness since the glasses add detail to his overall look (wearing his blue hoodie, of course). Without the eyebrow enhancements, Alvin isn't so striking, despite having that nicely made hoodie with stitched on "A", and Brittany is very cute, but she also looks the most like a toy out of the three. Still, I'm thankful that she actually does have a center forehead stripe, and her outfit is very cute, though it does have fraying edges on the jacket's bottom hem. She sports a cute ponytail like in the film, but I had to work with it a bit to make it lay right due to the way they chose to craft it (it's stuffed itself, like her actual tail). Regardless of the nit-picky things, she looks great and all three of these beanies do, and I anticipate Theodore will look great when I get him as well. They just better not stiff us fans and cancel the line before making Jeanette and Eleanor! Oh, and what's the deal with Alvin not wearing his cap? He doesn't wear it in the Squeakquel (if I remember correctly), nor does the Ty beanie wear one! Alvin always wore his hat! I wouldn't be surprised if they come out with a cap-wearing version if/when the other two Chipettes come out though, forcing me to buy Alvin all over again, ha.

Schylling Peter Pirate Jack-In-The-Box Review

This toy was bought for a 15 month old. He is not overly interested in it yet. Honestly older children went to play with it after it was opened. Sometimes the pirate gets stuck as it pops out of the box. Not sure why? So, I guess that takes away from the surprise for the child. I do like the look of the toy. It is cute and different than a clown jack in the box. This toy is not easy to find,especially around Christmas time. Ithoght the packaging was nice. On the outside of the box it made reference to being elf made and made to seem like it was from the North Pole. Very nice touch from the store.

I bought this for my daughter when she was around a year old I was doing my best to introduce her to a new lovie being that her Monkey that she had gotten from Target was no longer being made or sold and impossible to ever get again basically and I know from previous experience how valuable a lovie can be to a child so ALWAYS have backup. This giraffe is perfect toddler carrying size, very plush, and huggable. My daughter never took to this giraffe and its now a bed companion among many of my 7yr olds fav animals. My husband got this for our 18-month-old son for Christmas as "his" gift to him as I had already done all the shopping.

It's cute and he played with it all the time. Has lots of little features to it. There is even a phrase (can't remember what it is) that the phone says that he would attempt to mimic every time. Cute!

My only problem with this is that the cord ALWAYS comes apart. ALWAYS. Why does it have to snap together? I don't get it. As short as it is, it isnt' a choking hazard, so I don't understand. And on top of that, one of the parts that snaps together is cracked.

Would buy again, but it just doesn't seem very durable!

Oven Front Lock Review

This lock works well, is easy to operate for adults, and has remained strong for more than five months. I use my oven extensively, and cook many dishes in my dutch oven, which requires baking at 350 for several hours each time. I have also run the cleaning cycles twice in this time, which heats to 500 degrees for hours.

Others have had troubles, and I would be willing to bet that their cleaning preparation before they stuck the lock on the oven was poor. How could you expect any adhesive to stuck to a greasy, bumpy mess.

Before I attempted to stick the lock to the oven, I prepared the surface as follows:
1. I used a razor blade (window scraper) and scraped the mounting surface clean.
2. I used nail polish remover to clean the mounting surface. This dries quickly.

Once I was sure the surface was clean and degreased I pressed the mounting plate firmly against the surface.

It has worked flawlessly so far.

TY Beanie Buddies Dora doll Review

Very sturdy yet soft, the 12" size goes perfectly with the 8" beanie baby Boots. I'm giving 4 star because her hair is too big and too long, doesn't go well with her big eyes, looks kind of scary. I may give her a haircut to make her look more like the Dora in the TV show. Ordered directly from ty online.

I recieved this toy on Yule (x-mas). Right now she just turned 17 months and still plays with it. She loves the music and is very proud of herself when she gets the coin in. I also ask her to point out piggy's ears,mouth,eyes,nose,tail, and feet.
I do wish the word RED etc. were written on the coin's, so that children can put words together with each color. I also wish the coins came in more colors.
I don't really like plastic toys,but I do like this one. The music isn't peeving, but rather cute. She also uses the coins to put into her bucket and other toys. Greatt toys for under 20 bucks. As far as the door issue goes,it snaps fine when you open and close it. I had no problem with that issue.

I purchased this Taggies Ball as a "back-up Magic Ball" for my 13 mos. old niece; she has one, but if it ever was lost my brother and sister-in-law would never get her to bed! They are the ones that coined the "magic ball" phrase as it's "powers" are truly magical - one touch from this ball and she brings it up to her head, leans into it, instantaneously puts her thumb in her mouth and when in her crib will be asleep in minutes, if not in her crib, it really calms her. This is a great toy; she's been using her first one for over six months and doesn't show any signs of not wanting it still....I highly recommend this for anyone's baby, as a baby shower gift, etc.

I bought this for my grandson's crib, he loves it! He is 11 mos old and doesn't have any problem making all the activities work. The bracket and straps that attach it to the crib are poorly designed but easily fixed by securing a ribbon around the straps. Other than this minor flaw the toy is well worth the money!! Highly recommend.

This book is a favorite of ours! My daughter first got this as a gift from her grandparents when she was four months old, and two months later she still gets visibly excited every time we pull it out, and it always can occupy her for long periods of time. The book makes great crinkle noises which our daughter loves, and she particularly likes to chew on all the tails. I'm so glad to see that Jelly Kitten makes other similar books in the "tails" series-- we'll be getting more for our daughter, and some for baby gifts, too.
