This toy was bought for a 15 month old. He is not overly interested in it yet. Honestly older children went to play with it after it was opened. Sometimes the pirate gets stuck as it pops out of the box. Not sure why? So, I guess that takes away from the surprise for the child. I do like the look of the toy. It is cute and different than a clown jack in the box. This toy is not easy to find,especially around Christmas time. Ithoght the packaging was nice. On the outside of the box it made reference to being elf made and made to seem like it was from the North Pole. Very nice touch from the store.
