Oven Front Lock Review
This lock works well, is easy to operate for adults, and has remained strong for more than five months. I use my oven extensively, and cook many dishes in my dutch oven, which requires baking at 350 for several hours each time. I have also run the cleaning cycles twice in this time, which heats to 500 degrees for hours.
Others have had troubles, and I would be willing to bet that their cleaning preparation before they stuck the lock on the oven was poor. How could you expect any adhesive to stuck to a greasy, bumpy mess.
Before I attempted to stick the lock to the oven, I prepared the surface as follows:
1. I used a razor blade (window scraper) and scraped the mounting surface clean.
2. I used nail polish remover to clean the mounting surface. This dries quickly.
Once I was sure the surface was clean and degreased I pressed the mounting plate firmly against the surface.
It has worked flawlessly so far.
